The Message

QURAN:

7:200 If a suggestion from Satan assail thy (mind), seek refuge with Allah: for He heareth and knoweth (all things). Y. Ali.

HADITH:

Chapter X

Whenever a person intends to do a good deed, it is recorded; whenever he intends to commit evil  and doesn't, it is not written (233). It is narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH)said: The Great and Glorious Lord said (to the Angeles): Whenever my bondsman intends to commit an evil, do not record it against him. But if he actually commits it, then write it as one evil. And when he intends to do good but does not do it, then take it down as one act of goodness. But if he does it, then write down 10 good deeds (in his record).

ISLAM FROM WITHIN:

With regard to to fasting, the Prophet (Peace and Blessings Upon Him) has left an important warning which we must endeavor to heed: " Many are those who fast but whose fast brings them only hunger and thirst; and many are those who pray at night, but whose prayer only results in sleeplessness. Abstaining from carnal pleasures is not the only condition of the fast.  The fast is also meant to strengthen the spiritual and moral character of the Muslim. Thus, all actions of the hands, feet, eyes, ears, and especially the tongue, must be kept in strict accordance with Shariah. The Prophet (Peace and Blessings Upon Him) repeatedly emphasized the avoidance of lying, backbiting, gossip, cheating, swearing, obscene and useless talk while fasting. All these actions can ruin the fast. May Allah guide us and help us. IORA August 17, 2007 Vol. 19 No. 8.

NEW MUSLIM GAINS A DEEPER RESPECT FOR ALLAH AND THE QUR'AN

By: Lisa Iyone Wright

As-Salamu Alaikum and Ramadan Mubarak,

6:104 "Now have come to you, from your Lord proofs (to open your eyes): if any will see, it will be for the good of his own soul: if any will be blind, it will be to his own (Harm): I am not (here) to watch over your doings." Y.Ali.

As many of you may know this is my first Ramadan as I have not been a Muslim for a year. Although I am not fasting, due to my pregnancy, I am reading the Qur'an for the first time. Allahu Akbar. Over the last ten years I have owned a Qur'an and read several ayats but never have I sought to read the Qur'an in its entirety. I have heard many quotes from the Qur'an, and have had people tell me what the Qur'an says in their own words, and now I am delighted at the opportunity to gain an understanding of our Holy Book for myself. Over this past week I have been deeply effected emotionally and my heart changed by what I have read thus far has left an everlasting imprint on my soul, given me a higher respect for Allah and is allowing me to understand several things that are expected of me from Allah as a Muslim.

6:59 With Him are the keys to the Unseen, the treasures that none knoweth but He. He knoweth whatever there is on the earth and in the sea. Not a leaf doth fall but will His Knowledge: there is not a grain in the darkness (or depths) of the earth, nor anything fresh or dry (green or withered), but is (inscribed) in a Record clear (to those who can read). Y. Ali

Allah is Wise, and Allah is all knowing. The Qur'an repeats several things over and over to stress the importance of the truth within the knowledge. Ayat 6:59 allows us to comprehend Allah's immense scope of vision. Allah takes account of all of the leaves that fall not just in Oklahoma City, or The United States but in the universe itself, this makes it clear to me that since Allah has time to record leaves falling, then surely Allah has time to record the deeds, actions and thoughts of Lisa Iyone Wright on The NE side of Oklahoma City. Reading, digesting and embodying this ayat assist me with gaining a deeper insight as to how ever present Allah is, and how vast his abilities. Allah seems so unimaginable, so important, and so serious. As a Muslim, who has read this sign of Allah, now as I go throughout my day, I now feel obligated to strive to make righteous choices so to remain pure at all times to appease Allah.

Before reading certain ayats in the Qur'an I may have questioned the statement I made earlier, "why should I strive to remain pure at ALL times?" I would have may be thought, "just one bad deed, thought or action is not going to take me to Hell, for no one person is perfect." Many a time we may have thoughts like this and then just go about the day allowing that thought to be our guide instead of Allah's word. Allah states, 7:160 He that doeth good shall have ten times as much to his credit: he that doeth evil shall only be recompensed according to his evil: no wrong shall be done unto them. Y. Ali As I continue to read, to comprehend, and to embody Allah's message I gain more knowledge and can make wiser decisions. Allah's message is simple and straight forward, strive to remain pure, to do right because we are being watched and we get more credit for doing right and none for doing wrong. Why not seek to be in good standing with Allah? It is indeed Allah who is the final judge of our souls!

We seek to make our parents, spouse, children, co-workers, and friends happy. We seek to look good in their eyes and we want to be noticed, liked, appreciated and remembered. We seek to have the latest styles, newest cars, nicest house and finest woman or man. All of this is material and none of it matters to Allah. The Qur'an states 7:162 Say: "Truly, my prayer and my service of sacrifice, my life and my death, are (all) for Allah, The Cherisher of the Worlds. Y. Ali. We are created by Allah. We have no other reason to exist than to worship and remember Allah. Everything we do is for the sole purpose of pleasing Allah. Each and everyday that we rise is a new day to establish a deeper connection with Allah. This is our sole purpose of existence. We can not know Allah plainly states not to do. Now I know, now I strive to do better. I would not know what is expected of me if I did not take the time to read the Qur'an.

In this month of Ramadan, we are given the opportunity to read the Qur'an to assist us with growing closer to Allah. Your heart will be opened. Important messages will be revealed to you. You will have the opportunity to cleanse yourself and receive proper instruction on how to live as a devoted, respected righteous Muslim, as I have.We are given an entire month to get to know, or be reminded of what Allah expects of us as Muslims. Please join me on this heavenly heart opening experience and read your Qur'an daily. You will be informed and encouraged to follow the guidance given to us by Allah, and seek to please Allah first and foremost so we as an Ummah will have healthier souls, lives and existence while here on earth.
